Although Asian Americans make up only 1.4 % of the population of New Mexico, they have contributed greatly to its cultural, social and economic growth. The contributions of early Chinese, Japanese and Filipino immigrants who did the backbreaking work of building the West are largely unknown. Through our project we seek to reclaim our histories through oral interviews of the leaders of these organizations. Their stories will be presented at this free community program. This entertaining program will include a variety of multimedia format enhanced by live readings.
